Jeb Hensarling represents the 5th District of Texas. He was elected in 2002.
He serves as Vice Ranking Member for the House Committee on Budget and as the top Republican on the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit.
Hensarling was appointed to the Congressional Oversight Panel to oversee the implementation of the $700 billion Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP).
In addition to other awards, he has received a “Spirit of Enterprise Award” from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Hensarling earned his Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 1979. He earned a law degree from the University of Texas in 1982. He served on the staff of U.S. Senator Phil Gramm and spent ten years working in the private sector.
He resides in Dallas with his wife and two children.
