Interactive: 2012 Early Vote Totals by County

The state of Texas has finished early voting, and the overall turnout in 2012 appears to have fallen a little short of numbers reached during the 2008 election. In the 15 counties with the most registered voters, 3.4 million people took advantage of early voting this year, 155,000 votes less than the early voting turnout of 2008, which reached 3.55 million. Compared with the 2004 turnout (2.4 million) however, 2012 pulled in 1 million more votes. Using the data collected by the Texas secretary of state's office, which provides early voting totals for the 15 counties with the most registered voters, we have built an interactive way to explore these numbers.

Use the two dropdowns below to switch between each county and each vote total: in-person votes, votes by mail and the overall total. We will update this regularly, so check back for new information as the numbers become available.
