David Yaffe-Bellany

David Yaffe-Bellany is a reporting fellow at the Tribune. He is a senior at Yale University, where he's pursuing a bachelor's degree in English and serves as managing editor of the Yale Daily News. He has previously reported for the New Haven Independent and the Toledo Blade, covering city politics, crime and the occasional cornhole tournament. His bylines have also appeared in the soccer magazine Howler, the sports website Deadspin and the Columbia Journalism Review.

Republican State Board of Education member David Bradley proposed the new course title in April, saying he found "hyphenated Americanism to be divisive.” On Tuesday, another board member, Democrat Ruben Cortez, called Bradley “the most mean-spirited” person on the board.
