The Energy track at The 2015 Texas Tribune Festival featured panel discussions on the state’s drilling industry, hydraulic fracturing, energy and the Legislature, and the state of the electric grid. The “Is The Boom Over?” panel, moderated by Texas Tribune reporter Jim Malewitz, featured state Rep. Brooks Landgraf, R-Odessa, Eagle Ford Consortium chairman Leodoro Martinez Jr., Midland City Manager Courtney Sharp, Karnes City Manager Don Tymrak and state Sen. Carlos Uresti, D-San Antonio.

 

The “Fracking Reality Check” panel, moderated by Texas Tribune Executive Editor Ross Ramsey, featured Azle Mayor Alan Brundrett, Texas Oil and Gas Association president Todd Staples, Texas state geologist Scott W. Tinker and Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne.

 

The “Energy and the Legislature” panel, moderated by Texas Tribune reporter Jim Malewitz, featured state Reps. Drew Darby, R-San Angelo, Chris Paddie, R-Marshall, and Gene Wu, D-Houston, and state Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen.

 

Texas Railroad Commissioner Christi Craddick was interviewed by Wall Street Journal reporter Russell Gold.

 

The “State of the Grid” panel, moderated by Michael Webber, deputy director of the Energy Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, featured CPS Energy Chief Generation and Strategy Officer Cris Eugster, Electric Reliability Council of Texas senior vice president Bill Magness, Texas Public Utility Commission Chairwoman Donna Nelson and Oncor CEO Bob Shapard.
