Special Education Teachers Try Out New Tool from NASA

Special education classrooms in New Jersey are employing blended learning, but what makes some lessons unique is a new tool: NASA’s EarthKAM, or Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle School Students.

Blue Origins, a commercial spaceflight company, successfully tested its reusable New Shepard booster on June 19, 2016 in West Texas. The rocket had previously flown to space and then landed vertically in November 2015.

Special education classrooms in New Jersey are employing blended learning, but what makes some lessons unique is a new tool: NASA’s EarthKAM, or Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle School Students. Through the system, teachers and students interact directly with the International Space Station, sending coordinates for pictures that are then relayed back to the classroom. (The Hechinger Report)
