Mike Collier, the Democratic challenger for comptroller, goes for humor in his new ad in an attempt to contrast his professional background with that of Glenn Hegar, a Katy rice farmer, state Senator and his Republican rival for the statewide office.

After convincingly demonstrating he’s no farmer, Collier goes on to say his training as a certified public accountant makes him better qualified for the job of watching over the state’s finances.

He also has tied the release of his ad online with a fundraising campaign to raise money to keep the ad on the air, according to his campaign.
