On this week's edition of WFAA-TV's Inside Texas Politics, I talked with host Jason Whitely and Fort Worth Star Telegram reporter Bud Kennedy about our story (and accompanying application) last week revealing poor higher-education outcomes for six eighth-grade classes ending in 2001; Democratic candidate for governor Wendy Davis' statements on open carry laws and the 20-week abortion ban, and whether either might alienate her base; medicinal marijuana, the decriminilization of marijuana laws and the question of outright legalization; and Rep. Stefani Carter's mis-representation — to The Dallas Morning News' editorial board — of her "life-changing" automobile accident.
Also: Former state Rep. Barbara Mallory Caraway talks with Whitely and Kennedy about her primary challenge to incumbent U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas — and Sen. Ted Cruz, and Whitely talks with state Rep. Jason Villalba, R-Dallas, about his letter to the four GOP candidates for lieutenant governor taking them to task for their tone toward undocumented immigrants.
