State Sen. Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, promises to strengthen the American Dream for Texans if elected comptroller in his first TV ad of the race.

Both Hegar and state Rep. Harvey Hilderbran, R-Kerrville, have purchased network TV airtime in some of the state's largest media markets. Former gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina and former state Rep. Raul Torres are also running in the Republican primary.
