On the Records: Statewide Officials' Personal Finance Statements Updated

Today we added new and previously missing personal finance statements for statewide officeholders into our directory of elected officials. This includes the most recent disclosures for Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Comptroller Susan Combs and Attorney General Greg Abbott. The complete list of updated individuals can be found below.
Back in April, we added the new and missing personal finance statements for all state House and Senate members. With this update, we have the current disclosures for every state official.
This update leaves only the federal House and Senate candidates in Texas. Requests for these two sets will be sent out soon.
This update is particularly timely. On Tuesday, the Sunset Advisory Commission vetoed a proposal to share annual financial disclosures of state officials on the Texas Ethics Commission website, citing concerns that personal information made available in these reports could lead to identify theft or kidnapping. The Texas Tribune, like many other news outlets, regularly posts the personal financial statements of public officeholders, and has done so since early 2010.
And, of course, we have no plans to stop now.
