Patterson is also a former state senator, but Uribe was out of office by the time he got elected.

Since leaving the Senate in 1990, Uribe has been pursuing other things; he ran for Texas Railroad Commission in 1996, getting 39 percent of the vote against the winner, Republican Carole Keeton Strayhorn (she was named Rylander at the time). And he's the only candidate on the ballot this year, as far as we know, who had a part in No Country for Old Men.

An even better trivia note: Uribe (his IMDB listing, as Roland Uribe, is here) was also in The Alamo. Patterson was an extra in that movie.
