On the Records: Mack Brown vs. Mike Sherman

We regularly update our public employee salary database, which is probably the most comprehensive listing of government payroll in Texas.
The database, compiled using the Texas Public Information Act, now has more than 250,000 employees from state agencies, cities and universities -- about $11 billion in taxpayer-funded payroll. Soon the database will include records from the state's largest schools and transit agencies.
Today we added the more than 8,000 workers at Texas A&M University. (Last week we added The University of Texas).
So now you can compare the salaries of head coaches Mack Brown and Mike Sherman. Let's hope next week's game isn't so lopsided.
UPDATED: Coaches have other sources of income, of course, from shoe contracts and the like. A sharp reader pointed me to a cool database of coaches' pay compiled by USA Today.
