Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee serves Texas’ 18th District. She was elected for the first time in 1994.
Jackson Lee sits on the House Committees on the Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Foreign Affairs.
She is a founder a founder, member, and co-chair of the Congressional Children's Caucus, the Pakistan Caucus, Afghan Caucus, and newly formed Algerian Caucus.
Her awards include a 2005 “Drum Major Award for Public Service” by the Revelation Urban Development Institute. He has also been awarded “Legislator of the Year” by the National Mental Health Association.
Jackson Lee served two terms as an At-Large member of the Houston City Council before heading to Congress. Before that, she was an Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Houston.
She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School.
Jackson Lee is married to Dr. Elwyn C. Lee. They have two children.
