Kevin Brady represents the Eighth District of Texas. He was elected for the first time in 1990.
Brady is a Deputy Whip for the GOP Leadership team. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee. He is the ranking Republican on the Subcommittee on Trade and a member of the Social Security Subcommittee. He's also the ranking Republican on the Joint Economic Committee.
He cites authoring the Federal Sunset Act among his congressional accomplishments, along with passing the Teacher Liability Protection Act, and helping to create the Texas Institute of Genomic Research.
For six years, Brady served in the Texas House of Representatives, where he created the Texas Birth Defects Registry. He worked as a chamber of commerce executive for 18 years.
Brady was born in Vermilion, South Dakota. He is married to Cathy Patronella Brady. They have two sons.
