Lucía Gardel is a fellow from the International Center for Journalists Emerging Media Leaders Program. Lucía is an award-winning Argentine journalist at Chequeado, where she trained as a fact-checker and is now a sub-editor. In this role, she debunks misinformation, creates explanatory content, hosts videos on social networks about various topics, and hosts Chequeado's podcast. Lucía’s work has led the Argentine Federal Police to investigate the sale and distribution of toxic chemicals and to efforts to counter misinformation on the Malvinas (Falklands) War and elections in Latin America and the Caribbean.
