On this week’s edition of WFAA-TV’s Inside Texas Politics with host Jason Whitely, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Bud Kennedy and Tribune reporter Aman Batheja, the show opens with an interview with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz just after announcing his campaign for the presidency at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Also: Jason and Aman talk taxes and toll roads; Jason and Bud sit down with Comptroller Glenn Hegar, who talks about the state’s financial picture and his agency’s need for more funding; Cruz’s chances in the 2016 contest are debated from the left and right; and more. In the Reporters’ Round Table segment, Jason, Bud and Aman discuss the political impact of having both Cruz and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky in the presidential race, the likelihood the state legislature will repeal the Dream Act, and finally, the prospect that a school vouchers bill and a texting-while-driving ban could finally see passage his session.
