National survey highlights inequities in education

A new survey of 4,700 public school teachers and principals, released by Scholastic and YouGov, found that public school educators overwhelmingly believe that equity in education should become a national priority. Only 39 percent of educators reported that most of their students begin the school year ready to perform grade-level work, while 87 percent of educators said that many of their students face barriers to learning that come from outside the school environment. (NEA Today)
