School officials in the Pelham school system in Alabama passed a new requirement that parents who want to eat lunch with their child or attend classroom parties must first pay for and pass a $15 background check. This new policy is in addition to the background checks already required for parents who wish to attend a field trip with their children. Some parents have questioned the impact that the new requirement would have on these families as well as undocumented immigrants.  (WBRC News)
