A dispute over water in India's Silicon Valley has escalated into violent protests, during which one demonstrator was shot and killed by police. The dispute resulted from an order by India's Supreme Court for water to be released from water reservoirs around Bangalore, center of India's tech industry, to the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu, where farmers are fighting severe drought.
