Rio's Guanabara Bay has Company in Being Badly Polluted
The Olympics brought attention to Rio de Janeiro's badly polluted Guanabara Bay, but other bodies of water around the planet are just as polluted through the same factors of rapid urban population growth, polluting industries and poor wastewater treatment. Among the world's most polluted waters are India's Yamuna River, China's Yellow River and the dead zone of the Mississippi River where the river meets the Gulf of Mexico. (Circle of Blue)
