Middle-Age Fitness Helps Ward Off Stroke, Study Says

Regular exercise to stay fit in midlife can significantly reduce the chances of a stroke in old age, according to a new study.

Since the passage of a 2007 law allowing state employees a 30-minute exercise break three times per week, state agencies have begun offering lunchtime workout programs. Last month, the Texas Department of Public Safety took home the "fittest large agency" prize in the state's GetFitTexas challenge.
