Administrators Urged to Scrutinize Benefits of School Uniform
Todd DeMitchell, former superintendent and current professor of education and justice studies, warns educators of a discrepancy between assumptions about and realities of school uniform policies. While some districts have met with little resistance to uniform policy adoption, others face lawsuits and vociferous student protests citing violations of free speech. At the heart of the problem, however, is that the body of data surrounding the efficacy of school uniforms is mixed, at best. (The Conversation)
