Some state legislators have taken issue with Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s proposal for a $500 million increase in education funding, with the majority coming from taxpayer money. Because property values are increasing across the state, paying more for school funding doesnโ€™t necessarily mean taxpayers would be spending more in state taxes total. This issue, however, remains contentious, with some offering a 50/50 split between state and taxpayer funding for K-12 programs. (Miami Herald)
