Criminal justice reporter Johnathan Silver and Associate Editor Robert Inks

We’ve got two great new hires to report here at Team Trib — a criminal justice reporter, Johnathan Silver, and an associate editor, Robert Inks.

Robert, who’s got a news name if ever I’ve heard one, spent the last 10 years as a writer, editor, copy editor and page designer for the likes of GateHouse Media, the global intelligence firm Stratfor, the Waco Tribune-Herald and the Killeen Daily Herald. At the Tribune, he’ll edit TribTalk, our op-ed site, and be the last set of eyes on all news, big and small.

Robert is an Austin native and UT-Austin alum. When he’s not listening to exceedingly loud music, tackling pop culture for his pub quiz team or savoring Mexican Martinis at Chuy’s, he’s mourning recent Longhorns and Cowboys losses.

Johnathan spent the last year and change at the Victoria Advocate, covering breaking news across three counties and serving on the paper’s editorial board. He graduated from UT-Arlington, where he earned degrees in both political science and criminology and criminal justice.

Originally from Fort Worth, Johnathan spends his spare time writing short stories, hunting down new brunch spots and feeding his addiction to candy corn and ribeye.

Johnathan joined us this month; Robert begins on Monday. Please join us in welcoming them to the Texas politics and policy party.
