A new study has sparked interest and concern among physicians, as it appears to show that a precursor of the protein that triggers Alzheimer’s disease can be transmitted from one person to another under certain conditions. In addition to questioning the scope of the study, critics worried that the public may misinterpret the findings and believe that Alzheimer’s is contagious. But defenders said the report adds to the understanding of how pathologies are transmitted from one place to another. (The Washington Post)
