Hillary Clinton to Campaign in Texas June 3-4

Former U.S. Secretary of State and current presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has scheduled a trip to Texas on June 3 and 4, a campaign official said Tuesday.

An early theme of the Democratic front-runner's 2016 campaign has been working hard for every vote, even in traditionally Republican states like Texas. 

During her Texas visit, Clinton plans to hold campaign events and raise money. Further details — including which cities she is set to visit — were not yet available Tuesday morning. 

Clinton is expected to at least stop in Austin, where she has a fundraiser scheduled on the morning of June 4 at the home of Suzanne and Marc Winkelman. It costs $2,700 to attend the event, $27,000 to co-host it and $50,000 to host it, according to an invitation. 

June 4 is the date of another major political event in Texas: Former Gov. Rick Perry is expected to launch his second bid for the White House on that day in Dallas.

The Republican National Committee quickly pounced on the news of Clinton's trip to Texas.

"Instead of answering at least one of the many questions regarding foreign donations and her secret email server, Hillary Clinton continues to opt for staged campaign events and private fundraisers," RNC spokeswoman Ruth Guerra said in a statement. "If Hillary thinks these tactics will work in Texas, she clearly doesn’t know Texans."

MSNBC first reported Clinton has scheduled swings through a number of states including Texas.
