<p>New data released by the U.S. Department of Education illuminates stunning gains in <a href="http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/data-mine/2015/02/12/us-high-school-graduation-rate-hits-all-time-high">high school graduation rates</a>. Reaching an all-time high national rate of 81 percent, this 2012-13 achievement marker indicated gains for students of color and a measurable step toward reducing opportunity and achievement gaps. Texas beat the national average with 88 percent &mdash; only a few points behind Iowa, in <span>first place</span>&nbsp;with 90 percent. (<em>U.S. News &amp; World Report</em>)</p>

Reaching an all-time high national rate of 81 percent, this 2012-13 achievement marker indicated gains for students of color and a measurable step toward reducing opportunity and achievement gaps.
