Value of Neck Artery Stents Questioned
Placing stents in the neck arteries of patients to prevent strokes may not be as valuable as previously thought for older and sicker patients. A study found that almost a third of Medicare patients who had stents placed in their neck arteries died an average of two years later. Some experts argue the procedure is not fit for stroke patients. (U.S. News & World Report)
