Art and the Power to Heal
Art critics have not always visited a hospital specifically to view — and review — an art collection. But UT Southwestern’s William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, which opened in November, sets a “new standard’’ with a collection that is devoted to promoting healing and representing innovation, according to a recent review. Much of the art is in the hospital’s public areas, including a specially commissioned piece by Spencer Finch, whose installations have received international publicity. Elsewhere, hospital systems big and small are experimenting with ways to showcase local and regional talent while improving patient experiences. (The Dallas Morning News)
