On this week’s edition of WFAA-TV’s Inside Texas Politics, host Jason Whitely, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram‘s Bud Kennedy and Tribune political reporter Jay Root talk about the border surge mandated last summer. Even as the the more expensive National Guard component winds down, the beefed-up Department of Public Safety presence could extend at least into late summer of next year.

Also: Gov. Rick Perry‘s legacy is discussed —  his longest-ever reign as governor of Texas was both colorful and consequential; Jason talks with Cathie Adams, president of the Eagle Forum, labeled, along with other Tea Party leaders, as “goons” by state Rep. Jason Villalba last week; Jason and Bud interview Dallas ISD board president Miguel Solis about positive and negative developments in that troubled, scandal-ridden school district; President Obama’s immigration proclamation last week is examined; and more.
