Abbott Links Davis to Obama in Web Ad

In his latest ad, Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott links the policy positions of his Democratic Wendy Davis, to President Obama.

In his latest ad, Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott links the policy positions of his Democratic Wendy Davis, to President Obama.

The ad begins with a clip of the Texas Tribune Festival, featuring Texas Tribune CEO and Editor-in-Chief Evan Smith asking Davis during a keynote session if she regrets voting for Obama. Abbott had asked Davis the same question the night before during the first gubernatorial debate in McAllen.

After Davis tells Smith she does not regret voting for the president, the ad links Davis to Obama's stances on several issues — including EPA regulations, gun control and the Affordable Care Act.

Taking aim at Obama's policies has been a cornerstone of Abbott's campaign, — something he has done more than criticizing Davis. Even this latest web ad features Obama talking more than it does Davis.

"We love this state too much to let the next four years in Texas look like the last six years under Barack Obama," Abbott says at the end of the ad.
