Mike Collier Goes After Hegar in New TV Ad

The Democratic nominee for comptroller goes on the attack in an ad set to air in the Houston media market.

Mike Collier, the Democratic nominee for comptroller, goes after his Republican rival, state Sen. Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, in a new TV ad set to air in the Houston media market over the next few weeks. The attack is based on remarks made by Hegar in January where he suggested replacing the property tax with "a consumption-type tax, a sales tax per se." Collier cites a report in the Tribune stating that eliminating the property tax would more than double sales taxes. He goes on to lay out his three-point agenda as comptroller: forecast revenues accurately, invest in schools and hold the line on taxes.
