Spring Lake Still a Destination for Travelers
Spring Lake, the spring-fed source of the San Marcos River, which was once home to Aquarena Springs, the popular aquatic amusement park, is now a different kind of travel destination. Under the auspices of the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, it's now an environmental education and research center, as well as a historical site. And it demonstrates that "you can have endangered species and still accommodate access to this beautiful resource," says Dr. Thomas Hardy, chief science officer for the Meadows Center.
