Hilderbran Reports $1.34 Million On Hand

State Rep. Harvey Hilderbran, R-Kerrville, a candidate for comptroller, has announced that he raised more than $700,000 between July 1 and Dec. 31 and ended the year with $1.34 million cash on hand.

That puts Hilderbran behind state Sen. Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, who announced Monday raising $1.1 million and on-hand cash totaling about $2.6 million, but well ahead of former gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina, who raised less than $80,000 and had $52,000 on hand.

"With a very positive response and a heavy schedule of major fundraising events over the next seven weeks, we will be in a strong financial position for the March 4 primary," Hilderbran spokesman Matt Mackowiak said.

The fourth Republican in the race to succeed Comptroller Susan Combs, former state Rep. Raul Torres, has not yet reported his fundraising numbers. Neither has the lone Democrat running for the seat, Michael Collier.
