THIRST, a temporary art installation on Austin's Lady Bird Lake commemorating the 300 million trees lost in the state's drought, will remain on view from Sept. 28 to Dec. 30.

What: THIRST, a temporary art installation on Austin's Lady Bird Lake designed to commemorate the trees lost in Texas in the 2011 drought. The project is supported by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation's Artistic Innovation and Collaboration Program.

Who: Presented by Women & Their Work of Austin, in collaboration with artist Beili Liu, architects Emily Little and Norma Yancey, and landscape designer Cassie Bergstrom

Where: 14,000 prayer flags will loop for 2.5 miles between the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge and the First Street Bridge in downtown Austin

When: On view between Sept. 28 and Dec. 30
