LCRA Considers Lowering Water Level of Lake Austin

The Lower Colorado River Authority is considering lowering the water level of Lake Austin, turning it — at least temporarily — into into a variable-level lake like Travis and Buchanan.

The Lower Colorado River Authority is reportedly considering lowering the water level of Lake Austin, turning it, at least temporarily, into into a variable-level lake like Travis and Buchanan. Ryan Rowney, LCRA's manager of water operations, told Austin's KVUE-TV that the ongoing drought is forcing the authority to consider the variable-level option, which would be a first for the lake. Opponents of the measure have started a "Save Lake Austin" Facebook page.
