Video: Perry Rejects Key Health Reform Provisions on Fox News

"We're just not going to be part of, again, socializing health care in the state of Texas and going in direct conflict with our founding fathers' wishes — and freedom, for that matter," Perry said in an interview with Fox News.

Gov. Rick Perry appeared on Fox News on Monday morning to discuss his decision to reject two key provisions of President Obama's federal health reform. As the Tribune's Emily Ramshaw has reported, Perry said Texas will not pursue plans to expand Medicaid or create a health insurance exchange.

"We're just not going to be part of, again, socializing health care in the state of Texas and going in direct conflict with our founding fathers' wishes — and freedom, for that matter," Perry said.
