Perry: Cruz Backers Don't Know "How Texas Works"
A Super PAC backing Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst's bid for the U.S. Senate released a new web video Friday in which Gov. Rick Perry praises Dewhurst's conservative record and criticizes some backers of former Solicitor General Ted Cruz as uninformed.
A Super PAC backing Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst's bid for the U.S. Senate released a new web video Friday in which Gov. Rick Perry praises Dewhurst's conservative record and criticizes some backers of his rival, former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz, as uninformed.
"There's a whole lot of people who don't intimately and expertly know how Texas operates that have come in and endorsed in this race," Perry says in the ad. "With all due respect, I respect each one of those individuals, but they don't know anything about how Texas works, and if they did, they would be endorsing David Dewhurst."
The ad, posted only hours before Dewhurst and Cruz were scheduled to participate in their first debate of the Republican primary runoff, was produced by the Texas Conservatives Fund Super PAC, which is run by former Perry campaign manager Rob Johnson.
