The big day is less than two weeks away. What, you think I'm talking about Election Day?

On Tuesday, Nov. 2 — which happens to be, yes, Election Day — The Texas Tribune will have been live and online for a year. Hell of a time to celebrate a birthday, isn't it? Right smack in the middle of the biggest news day of the year?

Trust us when we say we'll have one eye, institutionally, on the returns as they're coming in. But we'll be just as focused on the hard work that got us here, as well as all the things we'll do during year two. And, oh boy, do we have plans.

We'll be celebrating this momentous (for us) occasion that night in a very public way, and we hope you'll join us. The Trib's first-anniversary party will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight at the newly renovated Arthouse at the Jones Center, the awesome modern art space at the corner of Seventh Street and Congress Avenue in Austin. We'll have booze; food from Moonshine, Ranch 616 and Frank; live music from Jimmie Dale Gilmore and his band; and real-time election results on big screens everywhere. We even expect some candidates to drop by, though the crowd will be high-powered enough without them.

If you believe in the Trib's mission and you're up for a great party that will toast the success of our first year, buy your tickets today: $100 for nonmembers, $75 for members. If you'd like to become a member and get that special ticket price, click here.

Thanks! See you on the 2nd...
