Republican Bill Flores released his first radio spot of the campaign season today in his bid to unseat U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco. In it, Flores enlists the help of former U.S. Sen. Phil Gramm, who argues that Edwards’ support of President Barack Obama’s stimulus plan is in stark contrast to what the congressman told his constituents earlier this year.

“In February, Congressman Chet Edwards wrote to the people of the district: ‘This election is about fiscal responsibility so we don’t drown our children in debt,’” Gramm says. “The only problem is, six days before, Chet Edwards had voted for the largest increase in the national debt in American history.”
