TribBlog: Munisteri's Private Parts

The recently elected chairman of the Republican Party of Texas has updated his formerly personal website bio.

Steve Munisteri in 9th grade.

Steve Munisteri is getting a little less personal.

After he was elected chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, a remarkably detailed bio of Munisteri was posted to the party's website. It mentioned, for example, that Munisteri graduated 32nd out of 600 in his high school class. He played one game of junior varsity football before committing himself exclusively to debate competitions. He finished his undergraduate and law degrees in four years and 11 months instead of the usual seven years. He was baptized by submersion. His first marriage ended (without children) in part because his wife wanted to move to the western part of the country.

But that's all gone now. Munisteri's newly updated bio is all business.

Instead of mentioning his high school geometry award, the new section on his education simply says, "Mr. Munisteri attended Memorial High School in Houston, before graduating from the University of Texas in Austin with a BBA in Finance with honors. He also earned a J.D. from the University of Texas Law School."

Details about "the woman in his life" are gone, and now, all that inquisitive Texans can find out about his personal life is, "Steve Munisteri is a native of Houston, TX, and a 38 year veteran of Republican politics in Texas and the United States as a conservative grassroots activist."

It's significantly less compelling, but probably closer to what you'd expect from a party chairman.

Texans need truth. Help us report it.
