State Representative

Dear Brian:

Congratulations on being selected the sole finalist for Chancellor of the Texas State University System.

Just between you and me, coming in second out of 38 applicants, as I’ve been told I did, is not fun — but I wish you and the system well nonetheless.

As a former regent of the system myself, and as a state senator who has had the privilege of representing two of the system’s institutions for a combined 15 years in the Texas Senate (including the largest of the eight components which I continue to represent), I know firsthand what a gem the people of Texas have in our unique system.

With your leadership, I’m hopeful that both the Legislature and the people of Texas will more adequately appreciate what a treasure they have as we work together to improve higher education for all Texans.

Sincerely,

Jeff Wentworth
