Ads Infinitum: Willie Pitches Kinky
In the final days of his primary race for agriculture commissioner, Kinky Friedman is calling in the big guns. He may not be the first name that comes to mind when thoughts turn to Texas politics, but legendary musician Willie Nelson's approval certainly hasn't been known to hurt anyone.
Nelson cut a radio ad for Friedman that's now on the airwaves.

Here's the transcript:
"Hi, this is Willie Nelson. I organized the first FarmAid concert to help farmers and rural areas. Now, I'm suporting my good friend Kinky Friedman for agriculture commissioner because there is no one else I trust as much to stand tall for rural Texas. Kinky will bring jobs back to rural Texas, he will oppose toll roads and support farmers and biofuels. Vote for Kinky Friedman, and go to kinkyfriedman.com — and tell them Willie sent you."
Nelson's support is no guarantee of electoral success — he has backed Friedman's political ambitions before. In his 2006 gubernatorial campaign, Friedman even pledged to name Nelson to the position of Texas Energy Czar if he was victorious. It didn't come to pass.
The campaign is asking for donations to keep the ad on the air.
