TribBlog: Staples Hacked

Don't click that link! Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples is the latest "phishing" victim on Twitter.

Earlier tonight, I and others received a direct message from Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples from his Twitter account reading:

you look funny here ... 

(Followed by a URL you don't want to visit). 

It seemed that Staples' account has fallen victim to the recent phishing scams on the popular social media site.

Indeed, he sent a response (which has since been deleted and updated) soon after: 

If you received a msg from me, disregard as my account was comprimised. Settings have now been changed, thanks so much for following!

Of course, Staples isn't the only politician to suffer this fate. The speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives recently got, shall we say, "Twacked," too.
