2010: Newspaper Endorsements: Chron for Gilbert
"[S]omeone who began working at age 10 on the family cattle ranch."
The Houston Chronicle is backing Hank Gilbert over Kinky Friedman in the Democratic primary for Agriculture Commissioner:
In his first losing run for agriculture commissioner in 2006, he received the highest number of votes for a statewide Democrat. He promises to develop new markets for Texas agricultural products while defending rural property rights against condemnation for toll road projects. As commissioner, he would harness Texas lands to produce biofuels and other forms of alternative energy.
