2010: Oh, the KBH Campaign's Just Gonna Love This

Deposed debate-question-asker Paul Burka's latest TEXAS MONTHLY cover story: "Perry for President?!?"

Paul Burka is about to be officially off Kay Bailey Hutchison's Christmas card list.

The February 2010 issue of TEXAS MONTHLY — sneak-previewed on Mark Halperin's web site, The Page — features a cover story written by Burka, the dean of Texas political writers, asserting that what Rick Perry is after is not another term as governor but a bid for the White House. Leaving aside the plausibility of the premise, the implication is that Perry will win both the March GOP primary for governor against Hutchison and the November general election against a yet-to-be-determined Democrat, positioning himself for a run against a wide-open 2012 Republican primary field.

With only four days until Perry and Hutchison (and Debra Medina) square off in their first debate in Denton, Burka's piece is sure to be, um, a topic of conversation.
