In the first campaign ad in his bid to succeed Comptrollerย Susan Combs, state Sen.ย Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, promotes Texas’ “business climate and our unwavering support for the unborn.” Hegar is in a crowded race for the Republican nomination. State Rep.ย Harvey Hilderbran, R-Kerrville, former state Rep.ย Raul Torresย and former gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina are also campaigning for the seat. Democrat Mike Collier recently entered the race as well.
