The House Select Committee on Community Safety is scheduled to hear testimony on bills that would change how people buy firearms and how authorities report those purchases. One of these bills would raise the minimum age to 21 years old to purchase certain semi-automatic rifles.

Texas public school districts may now store, not trash, leftover food
School districts are now allowed to create food pantries on campus to store and distribute leftover food from the cafeteria, as long as they follow state and local health codes.

Third time not the charm for House rep’s school lunch legislation
Rep. Helen Giddings failed a third time to pass a bill that would prevent school districts from identifying students without money in their school lunch accounts — again when a member of the Freedom Caucus killed it.
