Timber Company Leaves Town High and Dry

The town of Weed, California, is being left without access to a mountain spring that supplies water to the municipality.

The town of Weed, California, which has been using water from a spring in the foothills of Mount Shasta for more than a century, has been informed by the lumber company that owns the land around the spring that it is going to turn off the tap to the town. Roseburg Forest Products is selling the spring water to a water bottling company that wants to increase its supply. (The New York Times)
