EarthShare Texas celebrates 30 years with anniversary bash
By Joshua Stafford-Geblein, Content Writer EarthShare Texas
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EarthShare Texas collaborates with nonprofits, businesses, and individuals state-wide, providing sustainable funding for 35+ environmental charities.
Originally established as an Environmental Fund for Texas, EarthShare Texas has transformed over the past three decades to become one of the largest nonprofit federations in the Lone Star State. By fundraising for 35+ environmental nonprofits across the state, the federation has been able to raise more than $20 million that is distributed as unrestricted funds for its members to empower their missions. EarthShare Texas’ member charities operate on a wide range of environmental issues to make sustainable communities and an environmentally-conscious state possible.
The EarthShare Texas 30 Year Anniversary Bash is a toast to those relationships we have with environmental nonprofits and Texas businesses, to continued expansion, but also to the strides made possible from our supporters. The federation is thankful to have come this far.
The 30 Year Anniversary Bash will be a festive evening among the wildflowers, celebrated at the blooming Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center on October 13th. The bash includes strolls through the Wildflower Center and will be followed up with cocktails and dinner, punctuated with live music to enjoy and an auction for a chance to win great prizes. Staff, leadership, and member representatives will share stories that showcase their efforts and accomplishments. Guests will go home with a special EarthShare Texas swag bag that holds surprise gifts from local businesses.
EarthShare Texas is thankful for the generous sponsors supporting the 30 Year Anniversary Bash: Reliant, an NRG Company, and H-E-B; and the many organizations and businesses who are monetary and in-kind sponsors.
Sponsorships and individual tickets are on sale now for this event. EarthShare Texas wants environment lovers to enjoy the fun with our nonprofit community and commemorate the positive impacts they create across Texas. There’s a lot to celebrate.
This special year has been a milestone for the cooperative. EarthShare Texas has expanded to create more diverse avenues of fundraising to have broader outreach and impact for our members. In doing so, the federation renovated its logo and website (now including fresh merchandise); expanded on and established new partnerships; and was approved and accepted into the 1% for the Planet network, which means that any member of their network –across six continents! – can now donate to EarthShare Texas directly, creating a larger pool of possible donors for our members.
Seeing these leaps forward is the cooperative’s Executive Director, Francoise Van Keuren. “As a Gulf Coast native, resident Austinite, and new parent, I feel strongly about the future resilience of Texas communities and natural spaces. Our leadership, staff, and members are passionate about creating green spaces, protecting air, land, wildlife, and water, and making Texas a better place to live and enjoy for all. Working with our members inspires me everyday, and I’m excited to continue building a thriving community together.”
EarthShare Texas focuses on the collective impact. Through long-standing partnerships with Texas businesses and brands, such staples as H-E-B and Reliant, an NRG Company, and environmental enthusiasts who participate and compete in our annual sustainability campaigns – the Texas Business Sustainability Challenge and #MyEarthMyTexas -, the organization collaborates in all its efforts to finance the future of environmentalism for the state and for our members.
Thus far, since 2007, EarthShare Texas’ longest partnership with H-E-B (and Central Market) and their caring customers have worked together to accumulate hundreds of thousands of dollars for our annual tearpad campaign in support of our shared environment. Similarly, the organization and Reliant recently hit 10 years of partnering, having raised over $2 million together.
EarthShare Texas is grateful for our enduring business relationships and is honored to have so many people in Texas who care for the federation and its members. All supporters help the cooperative’s 35+ environmental nonprofits continue to thrive so all habitats and communities can benefit. The members’ projects and successes make our environment cleaner, greener, and healthier. Together, all of the collective impact can go further and create positive change for a myriad of environmental causes.
