For a live recording of The Texas Tribune’s podcast on Wednesday, Tribune law and politics reporter Eleanor Klibanoff was joined by James Barragรกn, anchor of Spectrum’s “Capitol Tonight;” Brad Johnson, founder and reporter at Texas Bullpen; Texas Tribune reporter Renzo Downey; and politics reporter Patrick Svitek to discuss the outcome from Tuesday’s primary.

The crew unpacked the record-breaking Senate primaries and what state Rep. James Talarico’s turnout in the Democratic primary means for the rest of the race, as well as whether the GOP runoff will be anything other than a costly, contentious battle. They looked at the impact of self-funded ad buys and endorsements from President Donald Trump and Gov. Greg Abbott, and bid adieu to the incumbents who lost their seats Tuesday night.
